Event editing When an event communicates with its target application, it uses so-called AppleEvents. Each target supports a certain set of AppleEvents. This set is different from application to application. As a result there are different DynRisk events for each supported target. The following target applications are available: • DynRisk • DynLP • Microsoft Excel 4 • Microsoft Excel 5 • Microsoft Project • HyperCard • AppleScript applications Note that by linking to AppleScript applications, you can actually link to any other scriptable application. Thus, if you need to link to some application not mentioned above, find out if it is scriptable. If so, it is usually relatively easy to write a small AppleScript application which can be used to pass data between DynRisk and the other application. A DynRisk event has many different properties or attributes. Most of these can be viewed and edited in the “Edit event” dialog box which appears when you “open” an event. An event is opened by double-clicking it. Alternatively, you can select the event and use the “Open node(s)…” command in the “Model” menu. [The latter method is most useful if you want to edit a sequence of events.] The “Edit event” dialog box is split up into two different views: • Identity • Event To select a particular view, you click on its corresponding icon in the icon bar at the left-hand side of the dialog box. The “Identity” view is the same for events, while the “Event” view depends on the target application.
